“Anklebiter Ridge” to “Gap Peak” - Scramble

View to Gap Peak from the col.

My climbing buddy Curt had recently mentioned the ridge from “Anklebiter Ridge” to “Gap Peak” was a great exposed, hands on scramble. I have never been up Gap Peak or Anklebiter, so I thought, got to try it sometime. Had a free day Friday June 23, so I tried it out. Great fun.

These two minor summit are located near the town of Exshaw with parking and the approach from the Grotto Mountain Pond trail head.

Easy slog up Anklebiter. The walk towards Gap Peak col has some amazing views. Once on the ridge proper, the first steep step presents the crux, exposed moves, but solid rock. Then an enjoyable scramble to the scree higher up on Gap. A small flock of sheep were annoyed by my presence, but I gave them lots of room. Enjoyed the views from Gap, then quick return to car. Very enjoyable solo day out. Recommended
